JOB DEMANDS ANALYSIS/RETURN TO WORK RECOMMENDATIONS
An Occupational Therapist can break down a specific job into it’s
different components (i.e., how much twisting, lifting, bending,
etc…) is required which can be used as future reference when
recruiting employees. An Occupational Therapist can also complete
a full assessment of an employee's job, with the overall goal being
return to work. A full job analysis may include;
- Job Role & Description
- Days and hours worked
- Position requirements
- Duties performed
- Physical demands required to perform the job(s)
- Recommendations are individualized for each employee and their injury to
assist them to return to work or be maintained at work
- Scheduled return to work programs which are individualized for each client
JOB MODIFICATIONS
Job modifications and alterations can be made for specific jobs, depending
upon the barriers and identified areas of concern. Equipment modifications
and recommendations can also be provided.
ERGONOMICS
Are your employees/clients suffering from aches and pains, tension headaches,
migraines, lower back ache, tendonitis, varicose veins, carpal tunnel or other
ailments associated with overuse type/repetitive injuries?
Often the workplace ergonomics need to be addressed in terms of fitting the
equipment, tools and tasks to the individual as well as training staff on how
to adjust their workstation and change their work habits.
Often employers spend thousand of dollars on new office fit outs and furniture
without consulting an Occupational Therapist regarding the human factor and
suitability of their choice. Piloting or trialing an idea may often save time,
money and potential Workers Compensation Board claims through the application
of ergonomic services.
