Swedish
Relaxation Massage
What is Swedish Massage?
“ Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques designed to
relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones,
and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.
Swedish techniques include long flowing strokes, deep kneading, surface friction,
percussion, and joint movement. The main purpose of massage is to increase the
oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
What are the benefits of Massage?
Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscle strains by flushing
the tissues of uric and lactic acids, as well as other metabolic
wastes. It increases circulation without increasing the heart load.
Massage stretches ligaments and muscles helping maintain range of
motion. It also helps reduce emotional and physical stress through
relaxation.

About the Therapist
My name is Robyn Hughes. I have worked in the health care field as a

Assistant for the last 20 years. After deciding I would like a change,
I returned to school in 2005 to pursuit a career in massage. I enjoy
working with people of all ages. I am very conscientious of the needs
of the client, taking in to consideration varying degrees of pressure
dependent on the clients preferences. Appointments are available
Monday through Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday mornings. Please
call (780) 512 - 3037 to book an appointment.
